WASHINGTON (NNS) -- The Commander of Naval Activities Spain and Commanding Officer of Naval Station Rota was relieved of command April 18.
Capt. William Mosk, was relieved of command by Commander, Navy Region Europe Africa Southwest Asia Rear Adm. Tony Gaiani for loss of confidence in Capt. Mosk's ability to command and effectively handle issues surrounding an on-going investigation that is taking place under his authority.
Mosk was not the subject of the investigation, however due to the ongoing nature of an NCIS investigation aboard the Naval Station Rota, additional details cannot be provided. Mosk, who took command of Naval Station in June 2008, has been temporarily assigned to the staff of Navy Region EURAFSWA.
Cmdr. Ronald Dennis, executive officer of Naval Station Rota, has taken command until Mosk's scheduled relief arrives. Dennis reported aboard Naval Station Rota in March 2009 and has served as executive officer since August 2010.
Naval Station Rota provides support for U.S. and NATO ships; supports the safe and efficient movement of U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force flights and passengers; and provides cargo, fuel, and ammunition to units in the region.
