TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast rejected the repetitive claims and false allegation against the country raised in the [P]GCC recent statement.

Mehmanparast called the accusations an action for distracting the public opinion of the international community from the military measures of a number of the regional countries.

He also described the statement issued by foreign ministers of Persian Gulf neighboring countries as baseless.

Regarding the statement of [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council ([P]GCC) foreign ministers, issued on April 17 in Riyadh, Mehmanparast said, "it is surprising that in the statement issued under the name of [P]GCC, Iran is accused of interfering in the regional affairs, while the military forces of some of the member countries violate all international conventions and laws and meddle in the domestic matters of their neighboring country and repress defenseless men and women."

Condemning the approach of suppression in Bahrain and urging the necessity of meeting the nation's legal demands, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman also stressed that, "this strategy is what enemies of the unity of the Islamic world has been willing for the past years."

Mehmanparast continued that Iran has proper relations with those countries of Persian Gulf which follow the principles of respecting national sovereignty, good-neighborliness, mutual respect and accountability to the legal public demands.
