Electronic Attack Squadron 129 Commanding Officer Relieved of Command

WASHINGTON (NNS) -- Commander, Electronic Attack Wing Pacific (VAQWINGPAC), relieved the commanding officer of Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 129 of his duties April 11.
Capt. Christopher Shay, commander VAQWINGPAC, relieved Cmdr. Timothy F. Murphy of his duties as commanding officer of VAQ 129 due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command.
Murphy was cited by Anacortes, Wash., police for driving under the influence early April 10.
Murphy has been temporarily assigned to VAQWINGPAC pending adjudication of the citation in civilian court.
VAQWINGPAC Deputy Commander Capt. John P. Springett has assumed command of VAQ-129 until a permanent relief is identified.
VAQ 129 is the Fleet Replacement Squadron for the EA-6B Prowler and EA-18G Growler. The squadron is based at NAS Whidbey Island, Wash.
