Kazakhstan Reshuffles Cabinet
April 11, 2011
Kazakhstan's prime minister has carried out a government reshuffle following the landslide reelection victory of President Nursultan Nazarbaev for a new five-year term.
Nazarbayev was reelected with more than 95 percent of the vote on April 3 and reappointed Karim Masimov as prime minister after the government resigned as a formality to accompany the president's inauguration on April 8.
Yerzhan Kazykhanov will step up from deputy foreign minister to replace Kanat Saudabaev.
New cabinet officials appointed today also include the heads of the economic development and trade, tourism and sport, and economic ministries.
