FM: Iran welcomes resumption of diplomatic ties with Egypt

Tehran, March 30, IRNA -- Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said on Wednesday that the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes resumption of diplomatic ties with Egypt as recently proposed by his Egyptian counterpart.
According to the Information and Press Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Salehi said that the Egypt people strived to materialize their justice seeking moves which was regarded as a new chapter in the country's history.
'We would like to once again congratulate them on the occasion,' Salehi said.
'There have been many ups and downs in the two countries' relations and we hope that under the new conditions we will witness further expansion of relations between the two great nations,' Salehi said.
There is no doubt that good ties between the two countries would help restore stability, security and development to the entire region, said the Iranian foreign minister.
