IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Berlin, March 19, IRNA -- British special forces have been already deployed in Libya to prepare for possible military strikes in that country, the Munich-based weekly news magazine Focus quoted German security circles as saying Saturday.
As part of the mission, Britain's top commandos, comprised of Special Air Service (SAS) and Special Boat Service (SBS), are targeting likely military sites for aerial bombings, among them air bases, air defense systems and communication centers.
The British elite troopers are also being used for military operations behind enemy lines in Afghanistan and Iraq.
According to British media reports, Libyan insurgents captured six SAS soldiers in rebel-held areas two weeks ago, however they were released a few days later.
Britain and France have reportedly spearheaded western military efforts to oust Libyan dictator Colonel Moammar Qadhafi.
