Ayat. Jannati: US behind all crimes in the region
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, March 18, IRNA – Substitute Friday prayers leader of Tehran Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati said on Friday that the US is involved in all crimes in the region.
Delivering his second Friday prayers sermon here at Tehran University campus, Ayatollah Jannati condemned the US-West double-standards on Islamic awakening in the region, saying the US on the one hand invites others to self-restraint, while on the other hand, leaves regional rulers with free hand to continue crimes.
On heart-rendering crimes in Bahrain, Ayatollah Jannati said the rights of the Shiite people in Bahrain who make up the majority of the population have been denied for years just because of being Shiite, adding that they have come to realize that they can rise up like people in other Muslim states.
He added that when the unpopular regime of the country realized that it was going to fall, it resorted to Riyadh to suppress Bahrini citizens. “Why the so-called advocates of democracy are now feared of people’s presence?” he questioned, adding, “No international law permits such a military build-up (in Bahrain by Saudis) to suppress people in other countries.”
Muslim Ulima and officials of Muslim organizations and countries should all join hands to ensure restoration of Bahrainis’ rights, he noted.
Elsewhere in his sermon, he voiced sympathy with people of Japan over the recent killer quake. He hoped that the people’s problems would be solved through help of other countries, including Iran.
On Libya events, Ayatollah Jannati said Moammar Ghadhafi attacks Libyans alike Zionist regime which targets Palestinians.
