Iran attaches no credit to Hariri court: Salehi

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Beirut, March 7, IRNA -- Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said here on Monday that Iran attaches no credit to the international court involved in probing the assassination of former Lebanese prime minister, Rafiq Hariri.

In an interview with the Lebanese Daily ‘al-Akhbar’ Monday, he also wondered how many times a court should lie to prove the fact that it lacks authenticity.

“The court sometimes accuses Hezbollah and sometimes Syria and this is not but a lie,” he said.

He also noted that Iran agrees with whatever decision its nation will take about the government.

Commenting on Iran’s ties with Hezbollah, he also said, “Ideologically, we have proximities with it but this does not mean that Iran favors a specific group’s rule over the country.”

The current developments taking place in the region will have positive consequences, he noted.

Salehi also said that regional developments are not created by the big powers; rather regional nations are trying to determine their fates and regain their lost dignity.

They want to destroy the dictatorial systems, he added.

He also noted that the Zionists are aware of Iran’s might. If it was not the case, they would certainly attack Iran.

Turning to Iran-Saudi Arabia ties, the minister said the close viewpoints shared by the two countries will benefit the region’s peace and stability.

“I was invited to visit Saudi Arabia and I will travel to that country in near future,” he said.

Salehi also said that for the time being, Iran-US ties are impossible.

The US should change its manner and the talks should be held in a fair atmosphere.
