Top German prosecutor starts probe of deadly attack on US soldiers

Berlin, March 3, IRNA -- Germany's top prosecutor on Thursday launched an investigation into the lethal shooting of American soldiers at Frankfurt airport, according to media reports.
The prosecutor general's office based in the southwest German city of Karlsruhe announced it has started a probe of the case following Wednesday's arrest of a 21-year-old Kosovan-born man, identified only as Arid U., at Frankfurt airport shorty after deadly shots were fired on board a bus transporting American soldiers.
Two US soldiers were killed in the assault, and another two were critically injured after suffering bullet wounds to the head and chest.
German authorities have not ruled out that the attack was politically motivated.
Meanwhile, FBI and CIA investigative teams were also reportedly on their way to Germany to help in the probe.
There around 45,000 US troops deployed at 22 military bases in Germany which is a major logistics center for US military operations Afghanistan and Iraq.
