Pakistan, China start joint venture of missile boats

Islamabad, March 2, IRNA -- Pakistan and China have embarked on a joint venture for the construction of two missile craft boats in the Chinese port city of Tianjin, officials said Wednesday.
Under the joint venture signed between Pakistan Navy and China Shipbuilding and Offshore International Company, two Fast Attack boats capable of carrying missiles would be constructed simultaneously in Pakistan and China.
The missile boat carriers would be equipped with latest weapons. Their sensors would be a potent addition to the fleet of Pakistan Navy.
A government statement said that a ceremony was held at Tianjin of the boat being constructed in China. The second boat would be constructed at Karachi Shipyard.
Pakistan’s Vice Admiral Tanveer Faiz Ahmed was the Chief Guest at the keel laying ceremony of the boat, the statement said.
Pakistan and China are cooperating in different defence field including joint production of a trainee aircraft and nuclear power plants.
