IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Cairo, Feb 1, IRNA -- With initiation of massive anti-government rallies in Cario in which millions of angry protesters took to streets, Egyptian security forces have arrest many protestors in order to control the situation.
According to informed sources in Cairo, these detainees had been transferred to unknown places and efforts by their families to find their whereabouts have got nowhere.
Those families are concerned about the fate of their beloved, said the report adding that based on the information released by human rights organizations, those under arrest are being tortured and mistreated in the custody of security forces.
Some reports indicate that police has hired criminals and hooligans to suppress people.
People in Egypt have taken to the streets to voice their dissatisfaction with the unjust policies of their government and call for resignation of President Hosni Mubarak.
Following the massive protests, President Mubarak dissolved the government and appointed Omar Suleiman as his new deputy to calm down the situation.
Suleiman had been trained at the John F. Kennedy military base at Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1980s and was known as a CIA agent in Egypt.
