Palestinians to publish peace talk documents after leaks

GAZA, January 24 (RIA Novosti) - The Palestinian National Authority will publish documents related to its negotiations with Israel over peace settlement in order to clarify its position in the talks, chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat told Al Jazeera on Monday.
The statement follows the leak by the Al Jazeera of confidential documents allegedly showing that the Palestinians are ready to make major concessions to the Israelis.
The concessions include the recognition of all but one Jewish settlement in occupied East Jerusalem, a proposal to hand over Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem to an international committee and the limiting of the number of Palestinian refugees eligible to return to their homeland to 100,000 over 10 years.
The Palestinians were quick to deny the allegations, with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas saying "I don't know from where Al Jazeera came with secret things."
Erekat said the Palestinian position in talks on East Jerusalem, which Palestinians want as the capital of their future state, has not changed. The Palestinian Authority, he added, relies on international law during talks with the Israelis, which considers East Jerusalem occupied territory.
"The principle of land exchange is no secret," the Palestinian negotiator said. "But the exchange should be equal in all perspectives."
