Guantanamo Assumes Condition of Readiness IV After Threat of Tomas Passes

GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba (NNS) -- Naval Station (NAVSTA) Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, assumed condition of readiness (COR) 4 at approximately 6 p.m. Nov. 5.
Capt. Kirk R. Hibbert, commanding officer of NAVSTA, set COR 4 when the threat of destructive weather from Hurricane Tomas passed.
At COR 4, general operations at the base continued.
The base Navy Exchange and designated Morale, Welfare and Recreation facilities re-opened at 3 p.m.
Currently, there are no reports of injuries or damages from Tomas.
Tomas is approximately 75 miles east of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and is continuing northeast away from the base.
