IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Berlin, Oct 16, IRNA -- The German army has no money to pay for stamps as a result of drastic defense ministry budget cuts, the weekly news magazine Der Spiegel said Saturday.
An army division based in eastern Germany was forced to halt its mail service until further notice because of financial problems.
All communications within the army will be conducted via e-mail or scanning documents until the end of the year.
The center-right government of Chancellor Angela Merkel had slashed the defense budget by 450 million euros this year.
