Contract Awarded for Repairs to Marine Corps First Battalion Barracks at Parris Island

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (NNS) -- Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Southeast awarded a $6.4 million contract on Sept. 21 to Lake Moultrie Construction, Inc. of Bamberg, S.C. for repairs at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island.
"This project will significantly upgrade the quality of life for incoming Marine recruits for many years to come," said Lt. John Butler, Parris Island construction manager for Resident Officer in Charge of Construction Beaufort.
The work includes renovation of the barracks (Bldg. 591), which occupies recruits from the First Battalion, under the Recruit Training Regiment. The project will provide concrete crack and spall repair, exterior brick repair, sealant replacement, interior finishes, door replacement, restroom and shower replacement, mechanical, plumbing, fire suppression, and electrical upgrades and incidental related work required for a complete project at the barracks.
The work is expected to be complete by April 2011.
