NORFOLK, Va. (NNS) -- Naval Education and Training Command's (NETC), Center for Surface Combat Systems (CSCS) concluded its annual Gunner's Mate Human Performance Requirements Review (HPRR) aboard Naval Station Norfolk Aug. 13.
"The primary objective of the HPRR was to provide stakeholders with a comprehensive review of existing training measured against validated fleet and system requirements, and rating and designator community or career management needs," said Lt. Adam Murrell, CSCS Processed-Based Feedback director. "The review also served as a means to identify human performance issues and trends, which may require evaluation and validation as potential training requirements."
Representatives from 28 commands participated, including the U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters; Afloat Training Group Pacific and Atlantic Fleet; Navy Personnel Command; Naval Surface Warfare Center; Naval Operational Logistics Support Center; Commander, Naval Surface Force Atlantic; Commander, Naval Surface Force; U.S. Pacific Fleet; and Commander, Naval Air Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet.
"This year's GM HPRR was executed in a deep-dive format covering manpower, shipboard training, continued training over a career, and technical and training system issues," said Chief Gunners Mate Matthew Wright, CSCS Land Attack Strike Functional Integration manager. "HPRRs are historically conducted on an annual basis, but fleet commander requests, Afloat Training Group assessment trends, fleet feedback, and formal course reviews are just a few of the many triggers that can lead to an HPRR being convened."
Action items from the training review included ammunition supply administration course revisions, occupational standards, Navy enlisted classification review and validation, and a review of the rate training manual and personnel qualification standards question generation.
"Working groups collected data with action items that will undoubtedly prove beneficial to overall fleet training and readiness," said Jeff Vinneau, CSCS Human Performance Requirements Review lead.
