WASHINGTON (NNS) -- Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Washington achieved approximately $1.6 billion volume of business during fiscal year 2010 which ended Sept. 30, a record for the command.
Work-in-place (completed work) makes up more than $1 billion of the total, up from NAVFAC Washington's historical average of $400 million to $600 million.
Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) work at National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md., and Military Department Investigative Agencies aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va., were big contributors to the record-breaking year, making up nearly half the total work-in-place.
"Our ability to grow so rapidly while maintaining an excellent reputation for quality and timeliness is a testament to skill, dedication and teamwork," said Capt. Rame Hemstreet, NAVFAC Washington, commanding officer. "Every member of the command should be proud of this accomplishment which highlights both the scope and variety of vital products and services we provide our many supported commands."
The outlook for FY11 overall work-in-place is $914 million as BRAC work at Bethesda and Quantico continue.
