8/27/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations August 26, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.
Air Operations in Afghanistan
Qal-E-Naw, Regional Command-West
U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew s and U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. B-1B aircrews conducted shows of force with flares over enemy targets. F-15E aircrews conducted a show of presence and a show of force over enemy positions to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers declared the engagements successful.
Kandahar, RC-S
U.S. Air Force MQ-9 Reaper operators provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and released a rocket over an enemy target to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers called the engagement successful.
Moqor, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity which ground controllers deemed successful.
Qarah Bagh, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-16C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity which ground controllers called successful.
Asadabad, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews and U.S. Air Force F-16C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted shows of presence and released precision-guided munitions over enemy positions to deter enemy activity. Pilots conducted a show of force and released precision-guided munitions over enemy targets to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers deemed the engagements successful.
