Co. of Corpus Christi, Texas, Aug. 10, for the construction of a rotor blade processing facility at the Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) on Naval Air Station Corpus Christi.

"This is a critical piece of CCAD's infrastructure, which will increase our ability to effectively support the warfighter," said Kresten Cook, CCAD's deputy to the commander for Maintenance Operations. "It's a much needed expansion to our current blade repair facility."

This project calls for the design and construction of a 46,885 square-foot addition to existing Building 49, Rotor Blade Repair Facility, and refurbishment of the existing facility.

Work for this project includes, but is not limited to, interior climate controls, a communication/data system, a utility monitoring and control system, a fire protection and alarm system, paint booths, adhesives laboratory, hazardous material dispensing room, storage, bridge crane systems, process exhaust fans and shower/locker rooms.

"With this expansion, we'll be better positioned to meet our production demands," said Cook.

The addition will comply with anti-terrorism/force protection standards and incorporate sustainable design features and achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver certifiable status.

The expected completion date for all work in the contract is October 2011.
