8/11/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations August 11, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

Air Operations in Afghanistan

Khowst, Regional Command-East
A U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and released multiple precision-guided munitions over enemy targets to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers declared the engagements successful.

Kandahar, RC-S
U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots conducted multiple strafing runs and released rockets over enemy positions to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers deemed the engagements successful.

Asmar, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted shows of force to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers deemed the engagements successful.

Morghab, RC-W
U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews and coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. F-15E aircrews conducted a show of presence and a show of force to deter enemy activity. Coalition aircrews conducted shows of force over enemy positions to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers called the engagements successful.

Chahar Bagh, RC-SW
U.S. Air Force A-10 pilots, U.S. Air Force MQ-9A Reaper operators, and U.S. Navy F/A-18C Hornet pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. A-10 Pilots strafed enemy targets to deter enemy activity. F/A-18C pilots conducted multiple shows of force with flares to deter enemy activity. Operators released precision-guided munitions and missiles over enemy targets to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers deemed the engagements successful.

Shahidan, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force which ground controllers called successful.

Tirgari, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and released precision-guided munitions over enemy positions to deter enemy activity.

Sangin, RC-SW
U.S. Navy F/A-18C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a show of force with flares to deter enemy activity which joint terminal attack controllers deemed successful.

Sheykabad, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-16C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots performed a show of force and conducted strafing runs over enemy positions to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers declared the engagements successful.

Shinkay, RC-S
U.S. Air Force A-10 pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted shows of force with flares to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers called the engagements successful.

Soltani, RC-E
U.S. Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a show of force with flares to deter enemy activity which joint terminal attack controllers declared successful.

A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Badghis Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 88,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Farah Province, RC-W
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Farah Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 6,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Helmand Province, RC-S
U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrews flew combat-airdrop missions in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 160,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Paktika Province, RC-S
U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrews flew combat-airdrop missions in Paktika Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 79,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
