Air Operations in Afghanistan

Gizab, Regional Command-South
Coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers declared the engagement successful.

Kandahar, RC-S
U.S. Air Force MQ-9A Reaper operators and coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Operators released missiles over enemy targets to deter enemy activity. Aircrews conducted a show of force. Ground controllers called the engagements successful.

Konduz, Regional Command-North
A U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrew conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers deemed the engagement successful.

Asadabad, RC-E

U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots and U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III and U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrews flew combat-airdrop missions in Badghis Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 180,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces

Helmand Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew combat-airdrop missions in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 72,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
