August 10, IRNA -- Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah referred to Fesal Moqalled as one of Israel’s mercenaries who has confessed to smuggling weapons and explosives to Lebanon via sea for terrorist acts.
(Press Conference; Part 2)
According to IRNA correspondent in Beirut, Hezbollah Secretary General in his Monday night press conference that took more than two hours in the presence of a large number of Lebanese, Arab and international media reporters, added, “Mahmoud Rafea, another Israeli spy has confessed in the course of his interrogations that he has played roles in four terror operations and that his specialty is implanting bombs and clearing the path for safe entry of the Israeli forces in Lebanon!”
He added, “Rafea has been successful in two of those terrorist acts and the court has issued a death penalty for him. In the year 2005 he tried to assassinate the Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri in an explosion at Zahrani District in the south of Lebanon, and this shows that Israel assassinated Hariri to foment a political crisis in Lebanon, but it was not successful in doing so, since no Shi’a-Sunni dispute emerged as an aftermath of Hariri’s assassination.”
Nasrallah added, “Another Israeli mercenary, Nasser Nadir, was a Shi’a cleric whom Israel had directed to settle down at Jull ud-Deeb District and he played a role in the assassination of a key resistance personality, Ghalib Awali. But after Awali’s martyrdom a communiqué was issued by Jond ush-Shaam, and efforts were made to pretend that Nadir and Israel were innocent in the terrorist act, and that all the crime was on the shoulders of that small group.”
He referred to Adib al-Amal as another Israeli spy who had a role in the assassination of Majzoob brothers, both of whom were members of the Islamic Jihad Movement.
The Hezbollah Secretary General added, “At the previous press conference it was mentioned that a precise plan had been prepared for assassinating me, and the people who announced the news also informed us that the Zionist mercenaries had even hidden in ambush to implement the plan. These are not some issues that can be easily ignored, nor can we remain silent about them.”
He then referred to Hezbollah forces penetration into the espionage information dispatched for Israel from Lebanon in the year 1997, copies of which were presented at the conference as slides and films.
Focusing on Rafiq Hariri’s case, Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah said, “In accordance with the information collected by Hezbollah one of the mercenaries of Israel had been present at the scene of the assassination a day before the explosion.”
He added, “Qassan Al-Jidd was one of the Israeli spies who was present at Saint George District in the west of Beirut before the assassination of Hariri and he is related to the group that had plotted the assassination of a Hezbollah official, Ghalib Awali.
Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah emphasized, “Our technical experts, too, have confirmed the matter that the bomb used in the assassination of Hariri was made in Tel Aviv, since no other government is capable of manufacturing such bombs and it goes without sying that the Zionists have been the only government involved in entering explosives through the sea into Lebanon by speed boats in past years.”
Referring to a video footage that shows the Israeli air traffic over Beirut on March 14th, 2005, and particularly over the rout in which Hariri moved, he added, “Such moves continued even on the day of the assassination and they were meant to back up the terrorist operation, and they were not merely accidental, keeping in mind that in those districts there were absolutely no Hezbollah center.”
The Hezbollah Secretary General added, “For anyone wishing to get access to the truth about this file it is necessary to pay attention to these important information pieces, which are naturally of great importance in the issuance of the final verdict on the matter, particularly for questioning the Israeli officials about the case.”
Pointing out that Hezbollah cannot trust the International Fact Finding Committee surveying the Hariri case, Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah said, “If the Lebanese Government would establish an independent committee in this respect we would deliver our information and evidence to them.
