7/28/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations July 26, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

Air Operations in Afghanistan

Shahidan, Regional Command-East
U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force which ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers called successful.

Abchakan, RC-E
U.S. Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet aircrews, a U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew, and U.S. Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. F/A-18F aircrews conducted a show of presence and F-16C pilots conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity. The B-1B aircrew conducted a show of force with flares to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers and ground controllers called the engagements successful.

Tani, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-16C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and released precision-guided munitions against an enemy targets to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers called the engagement successful

Kandahar, RC-S
U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force with flares which joint terminal attack controllers declared successful.

Khavel, RC-N
Coalition and U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted shows of force with flares over enemy positions to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers and ground controllers called the engagements successful.

Asmar, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted shows of force over several enemy positions to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers declared the engagements successful.

Airlift Action

Badghis Province, RC-W
U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III and U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrews flew combat-airdrop missions in Badghis Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 172,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Helmand Province, RC-S
U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 88,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Nimroz Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Nimroz Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 35,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Zabul Province, RC-S
U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III and U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrews flew combat-airdrop missions in Zabul Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 239,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
