7/25/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations July 23, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

Air Operations in Afghanistan

Kandahar, Regional Command-South
Coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers called the engagement successful.

Abchakan, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots and U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews performed a show of presence, a show of force, and a strafing run against enemy targets to deter enemy activity. Pilots conducted a show of force and multiple strafing runs against an enemy position to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers declared the engagements successful.

Asmar, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers called the engagement successful.

Tirgari, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-16C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers called the engagement successful.

Sangin, RC-SW
A U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrew conducted show of presence over an enemy position to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers called the engagement successful.

Ali Kheyl, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted shows of force which ground controllers declared successful.

Tarin Kowt, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew and U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrew and pilots released multiple precision-guided munitions over several enemy targets to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers declared the engagements successful.

Airlift Action

Badghis Province, RC-W
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Badghis Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 44,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Helmand Province, RC-S
U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrews and a U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew combat-airdrop missions in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 264,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
