7/24/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations July 22, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

Air Operations in Afghanistan

Moqor, Regional Command-South
U.S. Navy F/A-18C Hornet pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted multiple shows of force with flares which joint terminal attack controllers declared successful.

Bastion, RC-SW
U.S. Navy F/A-18C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a show of force with flares to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers declared the engagement successful.

Asmar, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted shows of force over several enemy positions to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers called the engagements successful.

Badghis, RC-W
U.S. Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a show of force which ground controllers declared successful.

Shkin, RC-E
A U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrew conducted a show of presence over an enemy target to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers and ground controllers called the engagement successful

Sangin, RC-SW
U.S. Air Force MQ-9A Reaper operators and coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Operators released a missile against an enemy target to deter enemy activity. Aircrews conducted a show of presence over an enemy position. Joint terminal attack controllers and ground controllers declared the engagement successful.

Balocan, RC-S
U.S. Air Force F-16C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted shows of presence over several locations to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers declared the engagements successful.

Mushan, RC-S
U.S. Navy F/A-18C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted shows of presence which joint terminal attack controllers declared successful.

Airlift Action

Farah Province, RC-W
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Farah Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 44,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Helmand Province, RC-S
U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrews flew combat-airdrop missions in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 176,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Oruzgan Province, RC-E
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Oruzgan Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 72,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
