7/20/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations July 18, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.
Air Operations in Afghanistan
Asmar, Regional Command-East
U.S. Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots and U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots conducted a show of presence against an enemy position to deter enemy activity. Aircrews released precision-guided munitions against an enemy target to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers declared the engagements successful.
Asadabad, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-16C pilots and U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews, provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots and aircrews conducted shows of force with flares to deter enemy activity. Ground controlled and joint terminal attack controllers called the engagements successful.
Samawah, RC-SW
U.S. Navy F/A-18C Hornet pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted shows of force which ground controllers called successful.
Bagram, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a strafing run against several enemy position to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers declared the engagements successful.
Mushan, RC-S
U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers called the engagement successful.
Qal-E-Naw, RC-W
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews, provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted shows of force with flares to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers and ground controllers declared the engagements successful
