7/17/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations July 15, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

Air Operations in Afghanistan

Konduz, Regional Command-North
U.S. Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots and U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots conducted shows of force with flares at several locations to deter enemy activity. Aircrews conducted shows of force with flares, released multiple precision-guided munitions, and performed strafing runs on enemy targets at several locations to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers and ground controllers declared the engagements successful.

Khanabad, RC-N
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force with flares and performed strafing runs against enemy targets to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers declared the engagements successful.

Asadabad, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and released precision-guided munitions against an enemy position to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers called the engagements successful.

Asmar, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity. Aircrews released precision-guided munitions against an enemy target. Ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers declared the engagements successful.

Sheykabad, RC-S
U.S. Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet aircrews and U.S. Air Force F-16C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrew and pilots conducted multiple shows of force over several enemy positions to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers called the engagements successful.

Ghazni, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-16C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a show of force which ground controllers declared successful.

Lashkar Gah, RC-SW
U.S. Air Force MQ-9 Reaper operators and U.S. Navy F/A-18C Hornet pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots conducted a show of force with flares over an enemy position. Operators released missiles against enemy targets to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers and ground controllers declared the engagement successful.

Ali Kheyl, RC-E
U.S. Navy F/A-18F aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted shows of force which ground controllers called successful.

Gereskh, RC-SW
U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a show of force with flares to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers called the engagement successful.

Shkin, RC-E
A U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrew released precision-guided munitions against enemy targets to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers declared the engagements successful.

Airlift Action

Farah Province, RC-W
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Farah Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 88,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Helmand Province, RC-S
U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrews flew combat-airdrop missions in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 130,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Oruzgan Province, RC-E
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew and a U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew combat-airdrop missions in Oruzgan Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 106,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
