- Iraqi PM Issues High Security Alert VOA 28 Aug 2010 -- Iraq's Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has issued a high security alert for possible terror attacks, as the U.S. moves to formally end its combat mission in the next few days.
- NATO Repels Attacks On Afghan Bases, Kills Insurgents RFE/RL 28 Aug 2010 -- The insurgents launched their attacks before dawn, firing rifles, machine guns, rockets, and rocket-propelled grenades on the two U.S. bases.
