US.-S. Korea Joint Maneuvers under Fire

Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists and south Korean puppet war-like forces finally kicked off large-scale joint naval exercises in the East Sea of Korea.

Rodong Sinmun Tuesday observes this in a signed commentary.

It goes on:

The on-going exercises are unpardonable criminal acts to disturb the peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the rest of Northeast Asia and ignite a nuclear war against the DPRK as they are the largest-ever in the history of naval military exercises.

The U.S. imperialists and the puppet group finally kicked off this saber-rattling despite the fact that the conspiratorial nature of the warship case was brought to broad daylight. This indicates that they are utterly indifferent to the calls of the domestic and foreign public and the presidential statement of the UNSC for preventing military conflicts on the Korean Peninsula and seeking peaceful negotiated settlement of all problems.

What matters is that the exercises are not confined to a mere "demonstration of forces." The trigger-happy elements are contemplating staging more than 10 joint military exercises such as Ulji Freedom Guardian joint military exercises and anti-sub drill in a sustainable manner till the end of this year in the wake of the on-going joint naval drills. By staging plays with fire for invading the DPRK through the all-the-year-round beef up of aggressor forces they seek to push the situation on the peninsula to the brink of war. Their ulterior intention is to recover from their ignominious diplomatic defeat at the UN by posing a military threat to the DPRK and justify their moves to escalate the confrontation with it.

The U.S. and the south Korean puppet group will keenly realize before long what a dear price they will have to pay for their reckless military provocations.
