BAE Systems Dutch Support Deal Will Benefit Army And Local Firms

19 Jul 2010 | Ref. 146/2010

Farnborough, UK -- BAE Systems has been awarded a 30-year contract from the Dutch Ministry of Defence to supply spares for its CV9035 infantry fighting vehicles.

The contract will give the Dutch Ministry of Defence shorter lead times for spares and reduced cost of ownership. It is the first time this type of long-term contracting has been used by the Dutch MoD.

“The contract is an important milestone in the relationship between BAE Systems and the Dutch military in our shared journey towards contracting for availability,” said Jan Söderström, managing director for BAE Systems’ Vehicles business. “The contract is the outcome of the close and productive business relationship that we have with our Dutch customer. It is also an important part of BAE Systems’ strategy to increase our readiness and sustainment business.”

Underpinning this innovative Dutch arrangement is a series of long-term relationships that BAE Systems has arranged with its CV90 suppliers to assist them with their planning and make efficiencies.

Jan Söderström explains: “Our production programmes for all five CV90 export customers have involved a large portion of the work being carried out locally, so we have created strong and extensive domestic supply networks. A supply contract like this one will continue to add value to the local economy and help to ensure operational sovereignty for its 30-year lifespan.”

The total value will depend upon the usage of the vehicle fleet over the 30-year contract life.
