7/14/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations July 7, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

Air Operations in Afghanistan

Chahar Bagh, Regional Command-Southwest
U.S. Air Force MQ-9A Reaper operators and U.S. Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Operators released a missile against an enemy target. Aircrews conducted a show of force with flares to deter enemy activity. Aircrews also released precision-guided munitions against an enemy position to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers declared the engagements successful.

Asadabad, RC-E
U.S. Navy F/A-18C Hornet aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force, which ground controllers determined successful.

Abchakan, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted shows of force with flares to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers called the engagements successful.

Konduz, RC-N
U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of presence and a show of force, with flares, to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers declared the engagement successful.

Ali Kheyl, RC-E
A U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots conducted a show of presence to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers declared the engagements successful.

Tirgari, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-16C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots conducted a show of presence to deter enemy activity. Joint terminal attack controllers declared the engagements successful.

Asmar, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of presence and multiple shows of force to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers called the engagements successful.

Balocan, RC-S
U.S. Air Force MQ-9 Reaper operators provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Operators released a missile against an enemy target. Joint terminal attack controllers and ground controllers declared the engagement successful.

Airlift Action

Helmand Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 60,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Paktika Province, RC-E
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Paktika Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 71,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
