CLB-2 deploys: First for most, second for many, experience for all

US Marine Corps News

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. — In the Marine Corps, units are constantly on the move across the globe. Marines can be deployed within weeks of arriving to the fleet, while others can go an enlistment without deploying. No matter how long it takes, a deployment is an unforgettable experience for any Marine.

Approximately 100 Marines with Combat Logistics Battalion 2, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, will now have a chance to gain that experience while deployed to Afghanistan. The Marines geared up and departed Camp Lejeune, N.C., July 11 for a scheduled eight-month deployment to replace CLB-6.
Although it’s the first deployment for many of the unit’s Marines, others have already had the opportunity.

“I haven’t even been in the Marine Corps for two years and it’s already my second deployment,” said Lance Cpl. Hernan Lopez, a motor transport operator with CLB-2. “I’m confident about this deployment. We’ve been training since February and I definitely think we’re ready.”
