IMI Exhibits at Eurosatory 2010

29 June 2010

Israel Military Industries (IMI) participation at the Eurosatory 2010 international military fair provided an insight into the company's leading position as a provider of defense weapon systems and technologies for force protection and modern land warfare.

"As the leading international event Eurosatory provided an excellent opportunity for IMI to showcase its advanced systems, designed to protect the warfighter and improve their capabilities in facing the challenging threats of modern, asymmetric warfare" said Mr. Avi Felder, President & CEO of IMI. "Through the five days of the exhibition we conducted meetings with top military officials and industry partners from around the world, to discuss future requirements, cooperation and acquisitions" added Mr. Avinoam Zafir, VP Marketing.

Among the highlights of IMI display at Eurosatory were the systems and technologies provided for the MERKAVA Main Battle Tank and NAMER Infantry Combat Vehicle, including advanced armor systems, main weapon system and advanced 120mm ammunition, and the Iron Fist 2nd Generation Active Protection System (APS) for the NAMER. The latter was installed on a Panhard VBR armored vehicle, carrying a number of protection systems from IMI, including the Iron Fist, Breakwater and Iron Wall armor protection systems, as well as simulations of new technologies of Invisible, Reactive Advanced Protection 'stealth armor' developed with Eltics, and armor modules integrated with C-IED capabilities, developed with Netline. IMI also displayed a wide range of WAVE remotely controlled weapon stations on a number of vehicles, and the Bright Arrow - an APS integrated on an IMI remotely controlled weapon station, mounted on the Panhard Petit Véhicule Protégé (PVP) light armored vehicle displayed at the Panhard outdoor Exhibit area.

Another system attracting significant attention was the new 'Red Sky-2' - a mobile, modular Very Short Range Air Defense (VSHORAD) system that made its debut at Eurosatory. Red Sky-2 extends the capabilities and the effective range of existing missiles, currently limited by human factors, to the weapon's maximum potential. The system is in production for several customers.

IMI's ACCULAR rocket was unveiled at Eurosatory in the new high precision configuration - an autonomous rocket system capable of hitting within 10 meters of a designated target, when fired from a range of 40 km. IMI also introduced two infantry support weapons - The 120mm precision guided mortar bomb developed in cooperation with Raytheon, and a Multi-Purpose Rifle System (MPRS). The MPRS system comprises an optical sight, integrated with laser rangefinder and fire control system, combined with advanced 40mm grenades, enabling the grenadier to employ measured effects flexibly, engaging a wide set of targets with one weapon system.
