6/28/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations June 26, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.
Air Operations in Afghanistan
Mushan, Regional Command - North
U.S. Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots and U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and a friendly-forces convoy. A-10 pilots conducted cannon-fire strafing runs on enemy positions when actions developed into a threat to friendly forces. Ground controllers called the engagements successful. F-16C pilots released precision-guided munitions on an enemy position that was determined to be a threat to friendly forces.
Lashkar Gah, RC-SW
Coalition operators and aircrews, and U.S. Navy F-A-18C pilots provided armed overwatch and area reconnaissance for friendly forces. Pilots and aircrews conducted shows of force, some with flares launched, to deter enemy activity. F/A-18C Pilots strafed and Coalition aircrews released precision-guided munitions against enemy fighting positions. Coalition operators released a missile against enemy fighting positions, which ground controllers considered successful.
Asadabad, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews and F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews and pilots released precision-guided munitions against enemy positions when friendly forces reported taking enemy fire. Ground controllers declared the action successful.
Shahidan, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted show of force to deter enemy activity and break contact with friendly forces. Ground controllers declared the show of force successful.
Gardez, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly-forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity, which ground controllers declared successful.
Morghab, RC-W
U.S. Air Force F-16C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots conducted a show of force and show of presence to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers called the engagements successful.
Asmar, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly-forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force, with flares launched, to deter enemy activity, which ground controllers declared successful.

Paktika Province, RC-E
U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrews flew combat-airdrop missions in Paktika Province, Afghanistan, delivering 140,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
Oruzgan Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Oruzgan Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 70,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
Zabul Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Zabul Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 25,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
