6/26/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations June 24, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

Air Operations in Afghanistan

Sangin, Regional Command-South West
U.S. Air Force MQ-9A Reaper operators provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Operators released a missile against an enemy position that posed a threat to friendly forces. Ground controllers declared the engagement successful.

Kandahar, RC-S
U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a show of force followed by cannon-fire strafing runs against an enemy position. Coalition joint terminal attack controllers called the engagement successful.

Lashkar Gah, RC-SW
U.S. Air Force MQ-9A operators and U.S. Air Force A-10 pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. MQ-9A operators released a missile against an enemy position to deter hostile action. Later, A-10 pilots conducted several cannon-fire strafing runs to support friendly forces in contact with the enemy. Ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers declared the engagements successful.

Qal-E-Naw, RC-W
U.S. Air Force F-16C and U.S. Air Force A-10 pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. F-16C pilots released precision-guided munitions against several enemy positions and conducted shows of force to break hostile contact and deter further enemy activity. A-10 pilots conducted cannon-fire strafing runs, launched rockets, and conducted a show of presence on an enemy position. Ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers declared the engagements successful.

Soltani, RC-SE
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers declared the engagements successful.

Asmar, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews released precision-guided munitions against enemy positions to deter further enemy activity. Ground controllers declared the actions successful.

Tarin Kowt, RC-SW
U.S. Air Force A-10 pilots provided armed overwatch and shows of force, with flares, for friendly-forces, which ground controllers declared successful.

Chakar Bagh, RC-SW
A U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew provided armed overwatch and a show of presence for friendly-forces. Joint terminal attack controllers declared the show of presence successful.

Airlift Action

Zabul Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Zabul Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 27,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Day Kundi Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Day Kundi Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 29,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces

Badghis Province, RC-W
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Badghis Province, Afghanistan, delivering 60,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Helmand Province, RC-E
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, delivering 88,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
