6/22/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations June 19, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

Air Operations in Afghanistan

Asmar, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews and a U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew provided armed overwatch and close air support for friendly forces and a friendly-forces convoy. F-15E aircrews observed enemy forces posing an imminent threat to friendly forces and released precision-guided munitions against the enemy position, which destroyed it. Aircrews also conducted shows of force to deter any further enemy activity. When friendly forces reported taking enemy fire, B-1B aircrews released precision-guided munitions against enemy fighting positions, which ended enemy fire. Last, F-15E aircrews released precision-guided munitions against an enemy position, eliminating a threat to friendly forces. Ground controllers declared the engagements successful.

Sangin, RC-SW
A U.S Air Force B-1-B aircrew provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. When friendly forces came under enemy fire, the aircrew released precision-guided munitions against enemy positions. Enemy fire ceased and ground controllers declared the engagements successful.

Chahar Bagh, RC-SW
Coalition aircrews and U.S. Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Both aircrews conducted shows of force, one with a flare launched, to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers declared the shows of force successful.

Khanabad, RC-N
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity, which ground controllers declared successful.

Mshan, RC-SW
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch following detonation of an improvised explosive device. Pilots conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity in the area. Ground controllers declared the show of force successful.

Paktya, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-16C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots conducted a show of force, which ground controllers declared successful.

Monari, RC-E
Coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots conducted a show of force, which ground control determined successful.

Qal-E-Naw, RC-W
Coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots conducted a show of force, which ground control determined successful.

Gardez, RC-SW
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for a friendly-forces convoy. Aircrews conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity, which ground control determined successful.

Airlift Action

Farah Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Farah Province, Afghanistan, delivering 88,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Helmand Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, delivering 88,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
