6/16/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations June 15, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

Air Operations in Afghanistan

Asadabad, Regional Command - East
U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews and a U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew provided armed overwatch for a friendly forces convoy and friendly ground forces. F-15E aircrews conducted a show of force and released precision-guided munitions to neutralize threats to friendly forces. The B-1B aircrew conducted a show of force to deter enemy fire against friendly forces. Joint terminal attack controllers declared the engagements successful.

Sangin, RC-SW
U.S. Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force, with flares launched, which ground commanders declared successful.

Soltani, RC-E
U.S. Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly ground forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force that ground commanders declared successful.

Qarah Bagh, RC-E
U.S. Navy F/A-18E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly ground forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force that ground commanders declared successful.

Remak, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and a medical evacuation operation. Aircrews conducted a show of force to deter anti-Afghan forces activity, which was determined successful by ground controllers.

Chahar Bagh, RC-SW
U.S. Navy F/A-18C Hornet pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots conducted a show of force that ground controllers declared successful.

Airlift Action

Farah Province, RC-W
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Farah Province, Afghanistan, delivering 88,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Helmand Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew and a U.S. C-130 Hercules aircrew flew combat-airdrop missions in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 123,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Zabul Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Zabul Province, Afghanistan, delivering 63,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
