Afghan Taliban reject report on ISI help
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Islamabad, June 15, IRNA -- Afghan Taliban Monday rejected a report as a ‘drama’ staged by US, Britain and NATO that Pakistan’s intelligence agency gives funding, training and sanctuary to Afghan Taliban on a scale much larger than previously thought.
The London School of Economics (LSE) also said in its report that support for the Afghan Taliban was an "official ISI policy".
“The U.S, Britain, U.S and NATO alliance have failed to counter successful operations of Taliban and now they want to involve their educational and research institutions in aggression in Afghanistan,” a Taliban statement said.
Pakistan army also rejected the report as 'rubbish' and part of a malicious campaign against the army and its security agencies.
The Pashto-language statement emailed by Afghan Taliban said Taliban considers the report as a drama staged by Western political leaders and it does not look a report by an educational institution.
Rejecting allegation of ISI support, the statement said that Pakistani officials always consider themselves as frontline in the so-called war launched by the U.S. It said Pakistan has practically extended all kind of support to the U.S against the Taliban in Afghanistan.
“Whoever thinks that Pakistan help the Mujahideen against the Americans are mentally is stupid. If Pakistan extends support o Mujahideen then its effects would be very clear,” the statement said.
“The Islamic Emirate invites the LSE and world educational and research institutions, military and intelligence institutions to come to Afghanistan to see if those fighting in Taliban ranks and their leaders are Afghans or aliens”.
“They should also see in the ranks of puppet Karzai government if their leaders are Afghans or the invaders. Then they should prepare their reports and researches on their findings. It will enable the institutions to present to the world community their useful academic researches rather than staging baseless dramas on request by invaders,” the statement said.
The Taliban statement asked the world and particularly the neighbouring countries to back the Taliban in their struggle against the invaders till the oppressed and suffered Afghans are freed from the aggression of oppressors.
