ThalesRaytheonSystems adds multi-mission Ground Master 200 to its radar family

14 June 2010

Eurosatory, France, June 14, 2010 – ThalesRaytheonSystems (TRS) will expand its Ground Master family of radars to include the Ground Master 200 (GM 200) tactical air surveillance and weapon coordinating radar. The Ground Master family is the latest generation in radars that provide accurate detection against a vast array of modern-day threats, including unmanned aerial vehicles and missiles, at critical ranges and altitudes.

ThalesRaytheonSystems CEO Jack Harrington gave a press briefing on the GM 200 at Eurosatory International in Paris “Compared to a decade ago new types of threats are more widely available from non-state organizations and have been joined by the unmanned aerial system among weapons encountered by nations around the globe,” said Harrington. “Together with our Sentinel and Firefinder radar systems, the Ground Master family fulfills global requirements for versatile and effective defenses against evolving 21st century threats.”

The medium-range, mast-mounted GM 200 radar features an open architecture with the capability to integrate command, control, and coordination for air command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence (C4I) solutions and ground-based air defense systems. The GM 200 is a highly deployable, single-unit package that has a set-up time of 10 minutes and can be transported by road, rail, tactical aircraft, or helicopter.

The GM 200 is a 3D, multi-beam, solid-state radar utilizing innovative and reliable technologies that share common software architecture with other Ground Master systems such as the GM 400 air defense radar.

ThalesRaytheonSystems’ air defense and battlefield radars protect key assets and forces deployed in remote theatres. The systems are specifically designed to meet operational requirements for high-detection performance, high operational availability, simplified maintenance, and high mobility.

As a trusted partner, ThalesRaytheonSystems supports its products through the entire lifecycle. From acquisition to in-service training and support services, the company provides logistics services required to ensure optimal system performance and availability at all times.
