Israel Aerospace Industries Introduces its Ground Target Acquisition & Designation System

Jun 14, 2010

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) will introduce the new, lightweight, portable Ground Target Acquisition & Designation System (GTADS), at the Annual Eurosatory Symposium & Exhibition in Paris, June 14th - 18th, 2010 (Booth E-700). The GTADS is a self contained, tripod mounted, gyro-stabilized EO/IR/LP/LRF/LD system, based on IAI/TAMAM Division's field proven MiniPOP, integrated with a tablet tactical computer, an eyepiece/joystick hand control and display grip, a north finding module and a power pack.

GTADS uses an innovative concept in ground observation and designation, by introducing a single, gyro-stabilized, pre-calibrated and hermetically sealed unit for the sensors and the laser designator.

GTADS features remote control operation, thus enabling the operator to safely control the system from a protected location. The system meets the tough "sensor-to-shooter" challenges of the battlefield in a single package, providing enhanced operator survivability.

Shaul Shahar, General Manager of IAI's Tamam Division, said: "GTADS combines Tamam's capabilities in stabilization, electro-optics, laser, and image processing technologies. GTADS enhances mission success by enabling quick deployment, accurate remote control, day and night target acquisition, auto-tracking and laser designation of moving targets, and increased operator survivability – all in one single unit. GTADS is the proper solution for the growing requirements for portable and accurate targeting systems for use by modern ground forces."

GTADS' main features and benefits include:
• Gyro-stabilized EO/IR/LP/LRF/LD sensor package
• Lightweight system
• Quick deployment

• Remote and concealed operation
• Superior operator survivability
• Moving targets auto tracking and designation
• Full day and night operation capability
• Compatible with US and NATO laser guided munitions (including Hellfire missiles)
• Self position and target position
• Dual use: best fit for vehicles and ground deployment, due to its high stabilization capability
• C4I ready
