5/25/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations May 20, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

Air Operations in Afghanistan

Lashkar Gah, Regional Command South
Coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted shows of force to deter enemy forces. All actions were declared successful by ground controllers.

Asmar, RC-W
U.S. Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots released precision-guided munitions to deter enemy activity after friendly forces reported taking enemy fire from several locations. Ground controllers declared the action successful when enemy fire ceased.

Almar, RC-W
U.S. Air Force F-16C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces, a friendly-forces convoy and a Coalition-forces patrol. Pilots conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity after the Coalition-forces patrol reported taking enemy fire. Ground controllers declared the action successful when enemy fire ceased.

Chahar Bagh, RC-S
U.S. Navy F/A-18C Hornet pilots and Coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The pilots and aircrews conducted shows of force, one with flares launched, to deter enemy fire. The shows of force were determined successful by ground controllers when enemy fire ceased.

Tani, RC-E
U.S. Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force and show of presence. Ground controllers declared the actions successful.

Kabul, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force, with flares, to deter anti-Afghan forces activity. Ground controllers declared the show of force successful.

Malek Din, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force to deter anti-Afghan forces activity. Ground controllers determined the show of force was successful.

Tarin Kowt, RC-S
Coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Coalition aircrews conducted a show of force to deter anti-Afghan forces activity. Ground controllers reported the action successful.

Ghazni, RC-E
U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews successfully executed a show of force to deter suspicious activity. Ground controllers determined the action was successful.

Gardez, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly ground forces. Aircrews conducted a show of presence, which was declared successful.

Soltani, RC-S
U.S. Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of presence. Ground controllers declared the show of presence successful.

Airlift Action

Helmand Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, delivering 88,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Badghis Province, RC-W
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Badghis Province, Afghanistan, delivering 88,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Kandahar Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, delivering 28,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Herat Province, RC-W
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Herat Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 22,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
