KABUL, May 23 (RIA Novosti) - NATO helicopters killed 12 militants in eastern Afghanistan, the press service of the International Security Assistance Force said on Sunday.

Two militants were killed by foreign servicemen while trying to plant a roadside bomb. Later, a group of armed people arrived to take their bodies and were also killed.

Three NATO servicemen - a French soldier and two Dutch nationals, - and a civilian contract worker whose nationality was not disclosed, were killed in roadside bomb explosions in south Afghanistan. Four Dutch nationals sustained injuries in the blasts.

Afghanistan's defense ministry said in a statement that at least ten Afghan servicemen were killed in several clashes with militants.

On Saturday a NATO military base in Kandahar came under a rocket attack, in which several foreigners were wounded.
