Air Operations in Afghanistan
Konduz, Regional Command - North
U.S. Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots provided armed overwatch and close air support for friendly forces and a friendly-forces patrol. Pilots conducted shows of force when friendly forces reported receiving enemy fire. Ground controllers declared the actions successful when friendly forces were able to break enemy contact and return to
Lashkar Gah, RC-S
U.S. Navy F/A-18C Hornet pilots and F/A-18E Super Hornet aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots and aircrews conducted shows of force, one with flares launched, to deter enemy activity. All actions were declared successful by ground controllers.
Qal-E-Naw, RC-W
U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots conducted shows of force, with flares launched, to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers declared the action successful.
Ghazni, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted shows of force to deter anti-Afghan forces. The shows of force were determined successful by ground controllers
Later, U.S. Navy F/A-18C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots received confirmed coordinates for an enemy position firing rockets and released a precision-guided munition against the target. Joint terminal attack controllers declared the target destroyed.
Kandahar, RC-S
Coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces that encountered an improvised-explosive device. Aircrews conducted shows of force, with flares launched, to deter further enemy action. Ground controllers declared the shows of force successful.
Chahar Bagh, RC-S
U.S. Navy F/A-18C pilots provided armed overwatch and close air support for friendly forces. Pilots conducted a show of force to deter enemy fire. Ground controllers determined the show of force successful.
Morghab, RC-W
A U.S. Air Force B-1B lancer aircrew provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and escorted a friendly-forces convoy. Pilots conducted shows of force and presence to deter enemy action. Joint terminal attack controllers reported the shows of force and presence as successful.
Qalat, RC-S
Coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted shows of force to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers determined the shows of force were successful.
Shinkay, RC-S
U.S. Navy F/A-18F aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force to deter anti-Afghan forces activity. Ground controllers determined the show of force was successful.
Airlift Action
Farah Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew and C-130 Hercules aircrew flew combat-airdrop missions in Farah Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 128,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
Badghis Province, RC-W
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Badghis Province, Afghanistan, delivering 44,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
Oruzgan, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Oruzgan Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 28,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
