Tajikistan ready for growing defense cooperation with Iran
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Dushanbe, May 14, IRNA -- Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi says Tajikistan will use all its diplomatic facilities to expand ties with Iran, especially in the defense domain.
Speaking to Iran’s visiting Minister of Defense Ahmad Vahidi, the Tajik Foreign Minister said Tajik foreign ministry will do its best to facilitate defense ties with Iran.
He hoped that Vahidi’s visit will serve as a prelude to bilateral defense relations.
Vahidi for his part said Iran favors long-term and strategic ties with Tajikistan as the republic has special status in Tehran’s foreign policy.
He said, “We believe powerful neighbors can alongside each other guarantee further progress and development and due to the same reason Iran considers its majesty and strength complementary to that of its neighbors.”
He said Iran’s defense capabilities are at service of lasting peace and security in the region.
