5/13/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations May 12 according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

Air Operations in Afghanistan

Remak, Regional Command - East
U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots and U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch and close air support for friendly forces. Both aircraft conducted shows of force, with flares launched, to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers confirmed shows of force were successful.

Later, U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces.

Chahar Bagh, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew and U.S. Navy F/A-18C Hornet pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircraft conducted shows of force, with flares launched, which ground controllers reported as successful.

Gereshk, RC-S
U.S. Air Force F-16C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces conducting meetings with local leaders. Pilots conducted a show of force, with flares launched, to deter an imminent enemy attack when suspicious personnel assembled around friendly forces. Ground controllers reported the shows of force successful when suspected enemy forces dispersed without incident

Almar, RC-N
A U.S. Air Force B-1B aircrew provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and a friendly-forces convoy. Aircrews conducted a show of presence, which joint terminal attack controllers reported as a success.

Konduz, RC-N
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and a friendly-forces foot patrol. Aircrews conducted shows of force to deter enemy forces and break hostile contact with the enemy. Ground controllers confirmed all actions were successful when enemy forces broke contact.

Ghazni, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly-forces. At a ground controller's request, pilots conducted a show of force, which was reported as successful.

Farah, RC-E
U. S. Navy F/A-18f Super Hornet aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force, which ground controllers reported as successful.

Balocan, RC-S
Coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrews conducted a show of force when friendly forces reported taking enemy fire. Ground controllers declared the show of force successful.

Lashkar Gah, RC-E
U.S. Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly-forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force, with flares launched, that ground controllers confirmed successful.

Airlift Action

Oruzgan Province, RC-S
U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster III aircrews flew combat-airdrop missions in Oruzgan Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 88,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
