PORT HUENEME, Calif. (NNS) -- Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Port Hueneme hosted the first international forum for Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) in-service users with two allied nations, April 27-29.

The forum is part of a cooperative program between the United States and Germany.

"This first RAM international users' group conference was very successful in providing an opportunity to establish relationships and have discussions with our international partners on in-service and logistics support for the RAM weapon system," said Steven Holsworth, RAM U.S. national deputy program manager.

During the event, NSWC Port Hueneme, a field activity of Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), expanded upon existing cooperative relationships with international partners by providing an overview of the latest developments in logistics, in-service engineering, emergent support-issues and future program plans.

"RAM has a strong collaborative relationship between government and industry," said Dan Barnard, NSWC Port Hueneme RAM Program manager. "This forum has allowed us to share many of the in-service accomplishments that have made our program so successful."

The forum marked a first for RAM in-service users and included foreign navy participants from Egypt and Turkey. Other affiliated RAM clients that were unable to attend include the United Arab Emirates, Greece, and South Korea.

"The Egyptian navy will be installing RAM on the first of four Fast Missile Craft [starting] fiscal year 2011," said Egyptian Rear Adm. (Sel) Mostafa El-Harty. "This forum has helped us to understand the RAM program's in-service philosophy, and we look forward to participating in the future."

"The RAM in service users' group meeting helped us establish a good relationship with the RAM community," stated Capt. Recep Oylan, head of Electronics and Weapon Systems Department, Turkish Naval Forces Command. "It was very beneficial for us and we would like to thank the RAM organization for hosting this meeting."

NSWC Port Hueneme is recognized as the Navy's Center of Excellence for in-service engineering, test and evaluation, and integrated logistics support for surface warfare combat and weapon systems.
