5/1/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations April 28 according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

Air Operations in Afghanistan

Asmar, Regional Command-East
U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Friendly forces reported receiving enemy fire and, in response, aircrews released precision-guided munitions against enemy targets and neutralized them. Ground control confirmed the actions successful when enemy fire ceased.

Bagram, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15-E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly-forces. Aircrews released a precision-guided munition against enemy forces firing on a friendly forces compound. Ground controllers declared the engagement successful when enemy fire ceased.

U.S. Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots provided armed overwatch for a friendly-forces checkpoint and medical-evacuation operation. Pilots coordinated with joint terminal attack controllers to suppress and terminate enemy fire against friendly forces. Pilots released a precision-guided munition, which was declared successful when enemy positions were destroyed. Later, pilots conducted a show of presence to deter any further enemy action

Sol Tani, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-16C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly and Coalition forces and a friendly-forces convoy. Pilots conducted a show of presence to suppress and terminate enemy fire against the friendly forces. The show of presence was declared successful when enemy firing ceased.

Asadabad, RC-E
U.S. F-16C pilots provided close air support and armed overwatch for friendly forces. Friendly forces reported taking enemy fire and passed enemy fighting position coordinates to the pilots. Pilots released precision-guided munitions against enemy positions, eliminating them and suppressing the enemy fire.

Mata Khan, RC-E
Coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted shows of force to deter enemy fire against friendly forces. The shows of force were confirmed successful by joint terminal attack controllers when enemy fire ceased.

Qalat, RC-E
U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots conducted a show of presence, with flares launched, to deter enemy aggression. The show of presence was confirmed successful by ground controllers.

Tirgari, RC-E
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch over a friendly-forces compound. Aircrews conducted a show of force when friendly forces reported taking enemy fire. Ground controllers declared the show of force successful.

Kandahar, RC-S
U.S. Air Force A-10 pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces during an operation. Pilots conducted a show of force, with flares launched, to deter potential enemy action. The show of force was confirmed successful by joint terminal attack controllers.

Shurankian, RC-S
Coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force to prevent an ambush against a friendly-forces patrol. The show of force was confirmed successful by ground controllers.

Morghab, RC-W
Coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted shows of force, with flares launched, and a show of presence. The shows of force and presence were confirmed successful by ground controllers.

Airlift Action

Farah Province, RC-W
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew combat-airdrop missions in Farah Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 35,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Zabul Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Zabul Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 30,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Oruzgan Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-resupply mission in Oruzgan Province, Afghanistan, airdropping approximately 35,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
