4/23/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations April 19 according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.
Air Operations in Afghanistan
Konduz, Regional Command-North
U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for a friendly-forces dismounted patrol. Aircrews observed enemy forces setting up an enemy machine gun fighting position, confirmed coordinates and released a precision-guided munition on the enemy position. The enemy position was eliminated.
U. S. Navy F/A-18C Hornet pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots conducted a show of force, with flares launched, over the area. The show of force was confirmed successful by ground control.
F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for a friendly-forces convoy stalled by an improvised explosive device. The aircrews conducted a show of force to deter anti-Afghan activity in the area. Joint terminal attack controllers confirmed the show of force was successful.
Abu Kala, RC-S
Coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for Afghan National Security Forces and surveillance for suspicious activity in the area. The aircrews conducted a show of force when Afghan forces came under enemy fire.
Oruzgan Province, RC-S
U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrews flew combat-resupply missions in Oruzgan Province, Afghanistan, airdropping approximately 5,000 and 7,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
Farah Province, RC-W
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Farah Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 30,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
Badghis Province, RC-W
U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-resupply mission in Badghis Province, Afghanistan, airdropping approximately 4,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
Paktika Province, RC-E
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Paktika Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 70,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
Zabul Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat airdrop mission in Zabul Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 71,000 pounds of sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
