4/2/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations March 29 according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

Air Operations in Afghanistan

Konduz, Regional Command-North
U.S. Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces under attack by enemy personnel with small arms and rocket-propelled grenades. The pilots conducted shows of force to deter enemy action. A joint terminal attack controller reported the shows of force were successful.

Tarin Kowt, RC-S
U.S. Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly ground forces under attack by enemy forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force, which was declared successful by a joint terminal attack controller.

Qalat, RC-S
U.S. Navy F/A-18C Hornet pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces engaged with enemy personnel. A joint terminal attack controller requested pilots conduct a show of force. The pilots conducted a show of force, releasing flares. The joint terminal attack controller declared the show of force successful.

Musa Qala RC-S
U.S. Navy F/A-18C Hornet pilots conducted shows of force, releasing flares upon request fom ground forces. Ground commanders declared the shows of force successful.

Chahar Bagh, RC-S
U.S. Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a show of force. A joint terminal attack controller reported the show of force successful.

Shurakian, RC-S
A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots conducted a show of force to support friendly forces under attack by enemy personnel with small-arms fire. Ground forces reported the show of force was successful.

Airlift Action

Paktika Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Paktika Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 70,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Zabul Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Zabul Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 35,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Badghis, RC-W
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a low-cost low-altitude combat-airdrop mission in Badghis Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 1,200 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
