3/19/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations March 17 according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

Air Operations in Afghanistan:

Close Air Support

Chahar Bagh, Regional Command - South
Coalition pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted armed reconnaissance. The pilots later conducted a show of force at the request of ground forces to prevent enemy action. Following the show of force, pilots remained in the area and corrected friendly mortar and artillery fire against enemy fighting positions.

Airlift Action

Farah Province, RC-W
U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrews flew a combat-resupply mission in Farah Province, Afghanistan, airdropping approximately 57,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Zabul Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-resupply mission in Zabul Province, Afghanistan, airdropping approximately 35,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
